# Agent 1 evidence file: league, draft, weekly results, and opponent benchmark

> **Final-result update (September 27):** Corey’s Double Play won the championship **863.3–701.0** with 0 games remaining and finished 17–6 including the title game. This memo preserves its earlier research snapshot; final championship figures are reconciled in `report.md`.

Research snapshot: **September 27, 2026, approximately 12:45 p.m. EDT**. The championship was still marked **In Progress** by Yahoo. Figures below distinguish regular-season totals (Weeks 2–23) from playoff figures. All numerical claims are from authenticated Yahoo pages unless labeled as an analytical calculation.

### Scoring weights

| Hitters | Pts | Pitchers | Pts |
|---|---:|---|---:|
| Run | 1.9 | Win | 8.0 |
| Single | 2.6 | Save | 8.0 |
| Double | 5.2 | Out | 1.0 |
| Triple | 7.8 | Hit allowed | -1.3 |
| Home run | 10.4 | Earned run | -3.0 |
| RBI | 1.9 | Walk | -1.3 |
| Stolen base | 4.2 | Hit batter | -1.3 |
| Walk | 2.6 | Strikeout | 3.0 |
| Hit by pitch | 2.6 | | |

Interpretation: this is a high-volume points league with strong rewards for strikeouts, innings/outs, wins and saves, but meaningful ratio-event penalties. Daily moves plus six adds per week make streaming structurally valuable. Four IL slots also make injured-player speculation more viable than in a shallow-IL league.

## 2. Regular-season standings and exact totals

| Rank | Team | Record | Pct | Points | Moves |
|---:|---|---:|---:|---:|---:|
| 1 | Sane Moderate Person's Gems | 21-1-0 | .955 | 18,604.5 | 120 |
| 2 | Corey's Double Play | 16-6-0 | .727 | 17,513.5 | 117 |
| 3 | ⚾️Young Guns 🔫 | 15-7-0 | .682 | 16,125.1 | 86 |
| 4 | Line Drive Ramon | 12-10-0 | .545 | 15,518.1 | 59 |
| 5 | NAPOLI | 12-10-0 | .545 | 14,662.4 | 37 |
| 6 | Stealing kenneth hopkins | 11-11-0 | .500 | 14,669.6 | 9 |
| 7 | Speedy Brian K | 8-14-0 | .364 | 13,030.6 | Yahoo displayed “–” |
| 8 | Hot Corner Mito | 7-15-0 | .318 | 12,360.2 | 15 |
| 9 | arthur's Destroyers | 5-17-0 | .227 | 11,274.8 | 3 |
| 10 | Ashwin's Bats | 3-19-0 | .136 | 9,836.9 | Yahoo displayed “–” |

Corey finished **second in record and second in points**, 1,091.0 points behind the leader and 1,388.4 ahead of third. Corey and Sane were almost equally aggressive by transaction count (117 vs. 120), so move volume alone does not explain the gap.

## 3. Playoff status (exact at research time)

- Week 24: Corey and Sane, the top two seeds, received byes.
- Week 25 semifinal: Corey beat Young Guns **896.4–670.1**. Yahoo original projection: **865.94–842.98** (Corey a projected 22.96-point favorite).
- Other semifinal: Sane beat Line Drive Ramon **924.3–825.9**.
- Week 26 championship: Yahoo marked it **In Progress**. Corey led **788.4–619.9** at the snapshot. Yahoo original projection was **805.55–816.36** (Corey a projected 10.81-point underdog); the live projection was **912.85–744.98**.

Do **not** describe Corey as champion or assign a final playoff result from this snapshot. Sunday games remained.

## 4. Corey's complete draft

Overall picks are exact, calculated from the 10-team snake board and confirmed against Yahoo’s round order. “Championship roster status” is a point-in-time observation from the Week 26 matchup, not a season-value grade.

| Rd | Overall | Player | Draft eligibility | Preliminary process view | Week 26 Corey roster? |
|---:|---:|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 4 | Juan Soto | OF | A: elite cornerstone, no structural reach | Yes, active |
| 2 | 17 | Cal Raleigh | C | B+: aggressive scarcity bet; early for a catcher, but format rewards his extra-base power | Yes, active |
| 3 | 24 | Cristopher Sánchez | SP | A-: early ace anchor fits K/out-heavy scoring | Yes, active |
| 4 | 37 | Yordan Alvarez | OF | B+: elite rate ceiling with known durability concentration risk | Yes, active |
| 5 | 44 | Freddie Freeman | 1B | A: strong value and stable lineup anchor | Yes, active |
| 6 | 57 | Geraldo Perdomo | SS | C: large investment in a player who did not solve SS through the championship | No |
| 7 | 64 | Oneil Cruz | OF | B: upside/high-variance bet; Yahoo listed him as OF, so he did not insure SS | Yes, bench/DTD at snapshot |
| 8 | 77 | Alex Bregman | 3B | B: defensible positional fill, but did not provide a lasting 3B solution | No |
| 9 | 84 | Jose Altuve | 2B/OF | B: reasonable flexible bat | No |
| 10 | 97 | Aroldis Chapman | RP | B: reasonable first closer; saves are worth 8 | No |
| 11 | 104 | Shohei Ohtani (Pitcher) | SP | A-: asymmetric upside at this price, aided by four IL slots | Yes, IL |
| 12 | 117 | Yandy Díaz | 1B | B+: high-floor points-profile bat | Yes, active |
| 13 | 124 | Raisel Iglesias | RP | A-: second closer at a non-premium cost in an 8-point-save format | Yes, active |
| 14 | 137 | Gavin Williams | SP | B+: strikeout-upside fit for scoring | Yes, active |
| 15 | 144 | Tanner Bibee | SP | B: reasonable depth bet | No |
| 16 | 157 | Bryan Reynolds | OF | A-: stable late everyday bat | Yes, active |
| 17 | 164 | Brandon Nimmo | OF | B: reasonable depth, but redundant OF concentration | No |
| 18 | 177 | Roki Sasaki | SP | B: late upside justified; subsequent roster handling matters more than draft process | No; on Sane's Week 26 roster |
| 19 | 184 | Shane McClanahan | SP | C+: IL/upside bet was supported by four IL slots, but compounded pitching-health risk | No |
| 20 | 197 | Adley Rutschman | C | C-: second catcher behind a Round 2 catcher had weak marginal roster utility | No |
| 21 | 204 | Brandon Lowe | 2B | A: very late power/upside and still active in the championship | Yes, active |
| 22 | 217 | Aaron Nola | SP | A-: unusually cheap innings/strikeout path | No |
| 23 | 224 | José Caballero | 2B/3B/SS/OF | B: sensible last-round flexibility/insurance | No |

These are **process grades only**, not outcome grades. Exact per-player preseason ADP/projection, time rostered, raw season points, and captured points were not exposed by the draft-results page and should be joined from transaction/player-log work before final outcome grades are assigned.

### Draft construction diagnosis

- First 10 rounds: eight hitters, one SP, one RP. This was already hitter-forward; it was not a pitcher-heavy opening.
- The roster nevertheless spent meaningful mid-round capital on two positions that remained unsettled: Perdomo (57) at SS and Bregman (77) at 3B.
- The strongest construction feature was a high-end hitting spine (Soto, Raleigh, Alvarez, Freeman) plus a legitimate SP anchor (Sánchez), followed by late usable depth (Reynolds, Lowe, Nola).
- The clearest questionable allocation was the redundant Rutschman pick after paying Round 2 capital for Raleigh. In a one-C league, the second catcher needs an exceptional utility advantage to justify the roster spot.
- Roki Sasaki’s presence on the championship opponent makes the **drop decision**, not the Round 18 selection, a high-priority audit item.

## 5. Sane Moderate Person's Gems: complete draft benchmark

| Rd | Overall | Player | Type |
|---:|---:|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | Aaron Judge | Hitter |
| 2 | 20 | Junior Caminero | Hitter |
| 3 | 21 | Fernando Tatis Jr. | Hitter |
| 4 | 40 | Matt Olson | Hitter |
| 5 | 41 | Chris Sale | SP |
| 6 | 60 | Cody Bellinger | Hitter |
| 7 | 61 | Jackson Merrill | Hitter |
| 8 | 80 | Tyler Soderstrom | Hitter |
| 9 | 81 | CJ Abrams | Hitter |
| 10 | 100 | Nico Hoerner | Hitter |
| 11 | 101 | Eury Pérez | SP |
| 12 | 120 | Brandon Woodruff | SP |
| 13 | 121 | Emmet Sheehan | SP |
| 14 | 140 | Trey Yesavage | SP |
| 15 | 141 | Drake Baldwin | C |
| 16 | 160 | Jack Flaherty | SP |
| 17 | 161 | Emilio Pagán | RP |
| 18 | 180 | Ryan Walker | RP |
| 19 | 181 | Alec Burleson | Hitter |
| 20 | 200 | Konnor Griffin | Hitter |
| 21 | 201 | Kerry Carpenter | Hitter |
| 22 | 220 | Zac Gallen | SP |
| 23 | 221 | Isaac Paredes | Hitter |

Benchmark lesson: Sane opened with **nine hitters and one pitcher in the first 10 rounds**, locking in premium everyday offense at 3B and SS (Caminero/Abrams) while postponing most pitching until Rounds 11–18 and then churning the pitching staff. This structure is especially compatible with daily lineups, six weekly acquisitions, and a 20-IP minimum. Do not overgeneralize it into “never draft pitching”: Chris Sale at 41 supplied an early anchor, and the construction depended on active waiver management.

Week 26 roster evidence from the championship page showed a stable drafted hitting core (Baldwin, Olson, Tatis, Caminero, Abrams, Merrill, Bellinger, plus Judge on IL) paired with a heavily cycled pitching group. Most of the visible championship pitchers were not Sane draft picks. Exact season-long roster tenure was not available here.

## 6. Weekly results, projections, and all-play inputs

Yahoo “Orig Proj” values are preserved on each historical matchup page. All-play means Corey’s score compared with each of the other nine teams that week. Rank is 1 = highest score.

### Derived regular-season metrics

| Metric | Corey | Sane benchmark |
|---|---:|---:|
| Points | 17,513.5 | 18,604.5 |
| Mean/week | 796.07 | 845.66 |
| Median/week | 793.35 | 805.50 |
| Population standard deviation | 111.59 | 175.55 |
| Floor | 590.7 | 621.7 |
| Ceiling | 1,026.0 | 1,549.4 |
| All-play record | 161-37 | 177-21 |
| All-play pct | .813 | .894 |
| All-play expected wins (22 × pct) | 17.89 | 19.67 |
| Actual wins | 16 | 21 |
| Actual minus expected | **-1.89** | **+1.33** |
| Average opponent score | 647.18 | 631.48 |

Additional exact/derived findings:

- League-wide average team-week score: **652.71**.
- Corey’s opponents averaged **647.18**, 5.53 below league average (about 0.85% easier); this was the **third-easiest** opponent average, narrowly behind Sane and Ashwin.
- Despite that mildly easy opponent slate, Corey converted **1.89 fewer wins** than an all-play baseline. The schedule was mildly easy in aggregate but unfavorable in timing.
- Corey went **16-5 when scoring above that week’s league average** and **0-1 when at/below it**. The 16-6 record was not built on stealing bad-score wins.
- Using an explicitly defined close-game threshold of 50 points, Corey went **1-3** (Weeks 10, 13, 16, 20). At 100 points, Corey went **2-4**. Close-game timing hurt, not helped.
- Yahoo projected Corey to win 20 of the 22 regular-season matchups at the start of each week. The four projected-favorite losses were Weeks 5, 6, 13 and 20; both Sane losses (Weeks 10 and 19) were projected losses. Yahoo’s projections therefore described roster strength but overstated week-level certainty.
- Corey’s six losses included weekly ranks 7, 4, 2, 6, 4 and 5. The Week 10 loss is the clearest schedule-timing hit: Corey had the second-highest league score but faced the only higher score.

## 7. All-play benchmark for every team

| All-play rank | Team | PF avg | Opp avg | All-play | Pct | Expected wins |
|---:|---|---:|---:|---:|---:|---:|
| 1 | Sane | 845.66 | 631.48 | 177-21 | .894 | 19.67 |
| 2 | Corey | 796.07 | 647.18 | 161-37 | .813 | 17.89 |
| 3 | Young Guns | 732.96 | 661.64 | 130-68 | .657 | 14.44 |
| 4 | Line Drive Ramon | 705.37 | 654.55 | 122-76 | .616 | 13.56 |
| 5 | Stealing kenneth hopkins | 666.80 | 652.93 | 107-91 | .540 | 11.89 |
| 6 | NAPOLI | 666.47 | 662.77 | 102-96 | .515 | 11.33 |
| 7 | Speedy Brian K | 592.30 | 649.97 | 70-128 | .354 | 7.78 |
| 8 | Hot Corner Mito | 561.83 | 647.25 | 60-138 | .303 | 6.67 |
| 9 | arthur's Destroyers | 512.49 | 673.52 | 44-154 | .222 | 4.89 |
| 10 | Ashwin's Bats | 447.13 | 645.79 | 17-181 | .086 | 1.89 |

Method: compare each team’s score to all nine opponents every week (22 × 9 = 198 comparisons). Expected wins = all-play percentage × 22. This is a descriptive schedule-luck estimate, not a probabilistic model of lineup decisions.

## 8. Opponent benchmark: what the 21-1 record means

Evidence-supported strengths:

1. **Best underlying team**: first in points and all-play (.894). The record was not an illusion.
2. **Stable premium hitting foundation**: nine hitters in the first 10 rounds, with high-end 3B/SS solved through Caminero and Abrams.
3. **Aggressive pitching adaptation**: 120 moves, essentially the same churn volume as Corey, with many non-drafted pitchers visible in the championship lineup.
4. **Weekly floor**: 21 of 22 regular-season weeks were at least 708.9 except the 621.7 loss; median 805.5.

Important qualifications:

- Sane’s actual 21 wins exceeded the all-play expectation of 19.67 by 1.33 wins.
- Sane had the league’s easiest opponent-scoring average (631.48).
- A singular **1,549.4-point Week 17** inflated the full-season mean and standard deviation. Excluding that week, Sane averaged **812.15** with an 87.05 SD, only 16.08 points/week above Corey’s 796.07. Median gap was only 12.15.
- Therefore, copy the roster-construction logic and disciplined hitter stability, not the surface belief that a 21-1 outcome is routinely reproducible.

## 9. Key implications for the parent analysis

- The cleanest explanation of Corey’s regular-season success is **genuine top-two scoring strength**, not favorable matchup luck: second in points, .813 all-play, and no wins when scoring below the weekly league average.
- The 16-6 record arguably understates weekly dominance; all-play implies 17.89 wins. The mildly easy opponent average does not cancel the poor conversion timing.
- Corey’s draft succeeded through the premium core and several late values, but SS/3B are real construction misses because Round 6/8 investments did not survive as championship solutions.
- The opponent’s advantage was smaller in typical weeks than the total-points gap suggests. Its median was 805.5 vs Corey’s 793.35; the 1,549.4 outlier accounts for much of the aggregate separation.
- Both finalists were high-churn managers (117 and 120 moves). The analytical question is not “too many moves?” but whether each move improved captured points and protected scarce hitting positions.
- The championship result was not final at this research time. Any final report must refresh the matchup after Sunday completion.

## 10. Explicit limitations / unavailable data

1. Yahoo draft analysis returned **“Request denied”**; its preseason grade/ADP comparison was unavailable.
2. Yahoo team-log and direct opponent-roster pages also returned “Request denied” during this session. Exact player roster-tenure and captured-points calculations require another evidence path.
3. The draft-results page provides exact picks but not preseason projection, final player points, time rostered, or active-lineup points. No values for those fields are silently estimated here.
4. Weekly “Orig Proj” is Yahoo’s preserved start-of-week team projection, not an independently calibrated win probability.
5. All-play expected wins assumes each weekly score is held fixed and changes only the opponent; it does not model opponent-driven streaming responses.
6. The championship was still in progress. Final score, champion, final record and final Week 26 player totals were unavailable at the snapshot time.
